The Tamar Valley Writers Festival brings some of Australia’s finest writers, guest speakers and avid readers together for three days of literary discussion and conversation. Recognised as one of the premier writers festivals in regional Australia, it provides sponsors and partners a wonderful opportunity to connect directly with patrons and other supporters.

 

The first three Festivals attracted more than 5000 patrons with almost half mature-age females. Predominantly, we attract a demographic who is educated and articulate, with above average discretionary income and looking for new lifestyle experiences to pursue.

 

Our festivals are shaped to recognise this strong demographic but with fresh inclusions on the program each time, for example, to encourage children’s love for the written word and teenagers’ fascination for romance fantasy and science fiction.

 

We are passionate about continuing to ensure accessibility for all. We do this by keeping ticket prices low and free-of-charge to children and young adults to encourage literacy, promote young writers and recognise readers of the future. Tasmania has some of the poorest literacy levels nationwide and the organisers are keen to address this issue.
